News at Graphene Square WRITTEN BY Graphene Square 2012-12-25

Graphene Square has acquired core technology fromSungkyunkwan University for 2.5 billon (KRW).

Graphene Square Inc. (GSQ) spent 25 billon (KRW) to acquire the mass production technology from the Industry Academic Cooperation Foundation of Sungkyunkwan University in December 2012. It is noteworthy to mention that to date, this is the largest amount recorded for IP transfer within the Universities of Korea. With the mass production technology of graphene, it can potentially replace the costly indium tin oxide (ITO) with graphene for the construction of smart phones, LCD TVs, touch screen etc. This will help to reduce the dependency on ITO, which prices have increased considerably due to its scarcity. If graphene can successfully emerge as a substitute for ITO, it will certainly create a significant impact on the prospects of the next-generation electronic industry.
